ONCE IN A VILLAGE
When we were little, we always imagined the pages of a book coming to life.
Once in a Village
Purpose/Background
First time using render man. When I was younger, I imagined the pages of the stories I read to come out of the pages. I realized paper was powerful, they carry knowledge between generations and across cultures through passion. This project in my Render man class helped me actually visualize this.
Details of scene: Pages making up the back mountains are textured with the ancient Chinese writings of the story "Legend of a Mother's Love", the later page of the book and the houses are made from a Victorian love letter.
The bookmark ribbon is suppose to symbolize a flowing connection of knowledge from book to book to the current reading that comes to life.
In the 15th century poet Ihara Saikaku described how origami butterflies and birds were used during Shinto weddings. So to keep with my theme I decorated the scene with them.
